Hayley is sadly missed by~

Hayley was born with a condition called Trisomy 18. This is caused not through genetics, but through chromosones.
Trisomy is a chromosomal anomaly that is characterised by the presence of an extra chromosome in the cells of a person's (or plant or animal's) body. Under normal circumstances everyone has 46 chromosomes in each cell. A Trisomy occurs when there are 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46. This is what happened in Hayley's situation. With my granddaughter, Hayley, this was not known in advance although there are tests that can reveal it. If the proper tests had been done, some of the heartache could have been avoided yet it was hopeless from the start. Apparently, Hayley was never meant to be with us. God picked her for his beautiful garden long before she came to us. Most of these babies never make it to term however, for some reason Hayley did. My daughter gave birth to a very beautiful angel and broke our hearts when she was called home after only 4 days.

My daughter is expecting again but this time this joy is mixed with so much fear as she had learned that life is so fragile. I pray that God will be with her and keep both mother and baby safe and that a part of Hayley will be back with us again.
